Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board welcomes Oliver Günther as a member

The Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board welcomes Oliver Günther as a new member. The current 32 representatives from science and industry identify research-based solutions for the further development and implementation of Industry 4.0. The topics of sustainability, resilience, interoperability, technological sovereignty and the central role of people are becoming increasingly important. The Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Council, which is coordinated by acatech, advises the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Industry 4.0 platform in particular.

Oliver Günther is now contributing his extensive expertise to the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board. The business IT specialist conducts research in the areas of IT strategy, IT efficiency, data protection and security. He has also worked on these topics as a company founder and strategy consultant. He has been President of the University of Potsdam since 2012. Oliver Günther is a member of the German Informatics Society, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Weizenbaum Institute and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam.

‘I am delighted to strengthen the Research Advisory Board's expertise at the particularly important interface between technology and business with Oliver Günther,’ explains Peter Liggesmeyer (Fraunhofer IESE), spokesperson for science on the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board.

Wolfgang Nebel (OFFIS e. V., University of Oldenburg) has left the Research Advisory Board.

‘With Wolfgang Nebel, we are bidding farewell to a committed colleague who was able to build bridges between industry and science through his proximity to industry on the Research Advisory Board,’ says Harald Schöning (Software AG), spokesperson for industry on the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board. ‘We would like to thank him for his work and wish him all the best’
