Fast approvals required

Rapid approval procedures are a key prerequisite for the transformation of industry towards climate neutrality. With the recently published discussion paper, the IN4climate.NRW initiative presents concrete proposals for the further development of the legal framework.

EnWG, UVPG, BImSchG, BauGB: These abbreviations stand for federal laws that can have a considerable influence on the duration of approval procedures. In order to provide industry with the best possible support for climate-neutral conversion, it is necessary to further develop this existing legal framework. This is where the discussion paper "Proposals for accelerating approval procedures for the transformation of industry towards climate compatibility" comes in. The paper formulates proposals for amending federal law in five subject areas. The starting point is practical experience from the energy-intensive primary industry and the associated infrastructure sectors.

IN4climate. NRW developed the discussion paper together with partner companies in the approval procedure working group. These include Heidelberg Materials, thyssenkrupp Steel, Open Grid Europe and the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology Umsicht. The discussion paper is available at the following URL.
