Swiss industrial group GF has completed the sale of GF Casting Solutions' automotive business. The division is being sold to Nemak, a Mexico-based specialist in lightweight aluminum solutions.
Following the acquisition, GF says it will focus on “value-generating investments” in the Flow Solutions business for industry, infrastructure, and buildings. The transaction covers the entire automotive business of GF Casting Solutions, which generated annual sales of around 622 million Swiss francs (equivalent to approximately 669 million euros) in 2024. According to GF, this includes nine production sites in Europe, China, and the US, as well as 2,500 employees. The enterprise value, it continues, amounts to 336 million USD – equivalent to around 249 million euros.
The transaction does not include the foundry in Leipzig (Germany) or the aerospace and industrial gas turbine operations in Novazzano and Stabio (Switzerland) and Arad (Romania). A divestment process has also been initiated for these discontinued operations.
“With this agreement, GF enters the final stage of its transformation into a pure-play Flow Solutions company,” comments GF CEO Andreas Müller. “We are pleased to have signed this agreement with Nemak, a reputable partner who will provide GF Casting Solutions and its employees with a strong base for the future.”
Nemak specializes in the development and manufacture of aluminum components for e-mobility, structural and chassis applications, and combustion engine drives. In 2024, the company generated sales of around 4.9 billion USD and employed around 23,000 people worldwide. Nemak's shares are listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange and are included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
