As the largest music competition in the world, the Eurovision Song Contest demands high safety standards. The Silbitz Group from German Thuringia contributes to this - with mobile vehicle barriers from a single cast.
The Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in Basel until May 17. To ensure the safety of all participants, over 100 slim, waist-high bollards have been erected throughout the city center over the past few days. They are called “Citysafe” and are a patented development of the Thuringian SIlbitz Group. The bollards, which weigh around 900 kilograms, are cast in one piece from a high-strength material and are used to prevent unauthorized access to event areas.
“Our Citysafe barriers impress with their low acquisition costs and, above all, no follow-up costs due to maintenance or repair, they are mobile, easy to transport with a pallet truck, unobtrusive in the cityscape and enable full accessibility,” explains Dr. Torsten Tiefel, Managing Director of the Silbitz Group. "The design also makes the barriers more escape-proof and panic-proof than many existing vehicle barriers," he continues.
With four foundries in Silbitz, Torgelow, Zeitz and Košice (Slovakia) as well as a mechanical processor in Staßfurt and its own pattern shop in Crossen, the Silbitz Group offers castings from the design stage through to the finished product. Thanks to a wide variety of materials, cast parts in steel and iron casting can be produced in a weight range from ten kilograms to 120 tons.
